Café Phoenix Food Service Assessment & Internship Program

Café Phoenix - Indiana food service assessment program is designed to assess participants of the PAES Counseling and Pre-Vocational Services for work readiness and to work in food service, coffee shops and related businesses.

Café Phoenix - Howard food service internship program is designed to provide work internship opportunities to participants of the San Francisco Community Behavioral Health Services. Individuals who are selected for the internship may qualify to take the test for the California Food Handlers Card Program which is required for any individual employed in the food service industry.

Café Phoenix - Indiana Assessment Description

The assessment program serves two trainees per day with a maximum of four hours of on-the-job assessment provided each day. Also one hour of group process session is offered at the end of each shift.

Each assessment period will last for up to three months. This assessment provides on-the-job paid work experience in the food service industry.

Who will provide the direct service?

The Vocational Rehabilitation Worker/Cook and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor will provide 100% direct service along with reporting and documentation.

Café Phoenix - Howard Internship Description

The internship program is nine months long and is competitive entry based. Internship hours and days are based on shift assignments and are typically 4-5 hours per day, 2-5 shifts per week. Individuals interested in this program are to be available for up to 20 hours per week of internship hours. Hours of operation are from Monday through Friday, 6:30am-3:30pm.

Who will provide the direct service?

The Café Manager and Café Trainer provides on-site supervision and training. Individuals are assigned a Vocational Rehabilitation Services Case Manager to provide support with vocational goals and to assist with succeeding during the internship.
